Vested Finance Closes $5M Seed Funding

Vested Finance

Vested Finance, an Austin, Texas-based fintech startup dedicated to overcoming the student debt crisis, closed a $5m seed round of funding.

The round was led by Sandleigh Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to expand the operations and offices in Austin, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., hiring developers who will create and distribute its mobile app.

Founded in early 2015 by entrepreneur Lorne Abony, Vested focuses on equity financing for higher education. In addition to its debt-free financial instrument of an income share agreement, students will also have access to a mentoring program comprised of industry leaders. The app, which is currently in development, will educate students and parents on equity financing and enable them to simulate school and career choices to see comparison data on financing options and earnings potential.
