Sky-Futures Raises £2.5M in Series A Funding

skyfuturesSky-Futures, a London, UK-based provider of drone inspection services for the oil and gas industry, raised £2.5m in Series A funding.

MMC Ventures made the investment, which followed two seed rounds from angel investors Nick Robertson (CEO of ASOS) and Jon Kamaluddin (former International Director of ASOS).

The company intends to use the funds to continue its growth and continue building out its integrated technology inspection platform.

Founded in 2009 by James Harrison, CEO, Sky-Futures provides oil and gas drone inspections. Its drones collect high definition video, stills and thermal imagery data, which is analyzed in a proprietary data platform and delivered to the client as a technical report written by qualified, in-house global industry experts.
The company now delivers drone inspection services in the North Sea, the Middle East, South East Asia and North Africa, and has recently opened an office in Houston, Texas to serve clients in the Gulf of Mexico, in addition to its Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Aberdeen, Scotland-based offices.
It serves more than 30 of the biggest oil and gas companies in the world including Apache, BG Group, BP, ConocoPhillips, Shell and Statoil.
