IEX Receives Minority Equity Investment from Sapphire Ventures

iex_logo_orangeIEX, a NYC-based equities marketplace, received a minority equity investment from Sapphire Ventures.

The transaction, whose amount was not disclosed, closed April 16, 2015.

Launched in October 2013 by Brad Katsuyama, CEO and Co-founder, IEX is a large Alternative Trading System in the United States.
Seeded by a consortium of mutual funds, hedge funds and venture capital funds including Bain Capital Ventures, Belfer Management, Brandes Investment Partners, Capital Group, Cleveland Capital Management, Franklin Resources, Inc., Greenlight Capital, MassMutual Ventures, Maverick Capital, Pershing Square, Scoggin Capital Management, Senator Investment Group, Spark Capital, TDF Ventures, and Third Point Partners, as well as family offices, entrepreneurs Jim Clark and Steve Wynn, and employees, IEX is a FINRA registered broker-dealer that operates as a non-displayed Alternative Trading System (ATS).
It is now preparing to seek regulatory approval to become a national stock exchange, and beyond.
