Bemz, a Stockholm, Sweden-based designer of sofa covers for IKEA sofas, received new funding from Verdane Capital.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its marketing efforts and grown internationally.
Started in 2005 by Lesley Pennington, Bemz offers covers for more than 150 different IKEA sofa models and most models are available in more than 250 different fabrics. In addition to sofa covers, Bemz also offers curtains and bed fabrics. The original patterns are created by Katarina Wiklund and the company also partners with design firms like Designers Guild, Marimekko, Littlephant and classic designers such as Stig Lindberg.
It today sells online to 35 countries (Sweden, France, Germany and the United Kingdom are the main markets) with a turnover of €5,4m in 2014 and 20 employees.
