Shots, a San Francisco, CA-based social app where users take real-time selfies and 3-second videos, raised $8.5m Series A venture capital funding.
The round was led by WI Harper with participation from Launch Fund, Upfront Ventures, Maven Ventures, Major League Baseball, Dennis Phelps, Rodney Jerkins and 500 Startups.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations.
Led by John Shahidi, co-founder and chief executive officer, Shots allows users to upload three-second videos and find nearby friends using a “radar” feature and send one-on-one in-app messages.
Previous investors in the company include pop star Justin Bieber.
