Playground Global Raises $48M

Playground Global, LLC, a Los Altos, CA-based hardware startup accelerator, raised $48m in funding.

Backers included Redpoint, Google, Hewlett-Packard Co., Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., and others. In total, a filing with the S.E.C., listed seven investors.

Founded by Android creator Andrew Rubin, who left Google (GOOG) in 2014, Playground will provide support and advice to startups focused on building devices for consumers or enterprises.

According to a post on Redpoint’s blog, Rubin has also joined the vc firm as a venture partner.
