Color Genomics Raises $15M in Funding

colorColor Genomics, a Burlingame, CA-based genetics company, raised $15m in funding.

Backers included Khosla Ventures, Formation8, Laurene Powell Jobs, Padmasree Warrior, Katie Stanton, Julia Hartz, Jerry Yang, Max Levchin, Drew Houston, and Aaron Levie.

Led by CEO and cofounder Elad Gil, Color aims to expand physician-supported access to breast and ovarian cancer genetic risk information by providing a laboratory developed, physician-ordered, genetic test for BRCA 1 and BRCA2 at a low cost. It also offers support as well as genetic counseling as part of every purchase.
The test is run in the company’s lab under federal regulatory standards.
