CoContest Joins 500 Startups’ 13th Accelerator Batch

cocontestCoContest, the interior design marketplace that connects designers and customers from all over the world, has been selected to participate in 500 Startups‘ Batch 13 in Mountain View.

Co-founded in Rome, Italy, by Filippo Schiano di Pepe, Federico Schiano di Pepe and Alessandro Rossi, the company applies the “contest” method allowing customers to select the best designer based exclusively on the project quality. With CoContest, they can obtain dozens of different projects from designers registered on the platform, at a fraction of the price of traditional designers.
The platform has 20,000 architects and interior designers registered from over 90 different countries.

CoContest, which will receive $100K in convertible notes in the framework of the program, now aims to expand the business in the USA aiming to connect its large community of European architects with American clients. They have also incorporated in Silicon Valley.

The company had already raised $200k in seed funding in 2013 (read here) and participated in the 7th batch of Startup Chile.

Co-founded by Christine Tsai and Dave McClure, the 4-month long accelerator selects approximately 30/35 startups out of 5,000 applicants for each batch. It has backed such companies as MakerBot, Twillo, Behance (sold to Adobe), Udemy, etc.
