San Francisco, Ca.-based MPOS payment giant Square acquired Kili Technology, a Canadian company that has developed silicon, electronics, and software that simplify and optimize payment processing.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
The acquired company’s technology provides customers with a complete solution including highly integrated System-on-Chip ICs, firmware, complete certifiable reference designs, IP and hardware modules.
The two companies will work together to deliver smarter and safer hardware.
Kili Technology’s team will continue operations in Toronto, Canada. Their headquarters will become Square’s second office in the country, alongside its other office in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, which it opened in the spring of 2014.
