Speedinvest, a Vienna, Austria-based early-stage venture fund, raised €60m for its second fund.
Founded in 2011 by Oliver Holle and Erik Bovee, Speedinvest invests in the web and mobile sectors with a focus on European early stage technology expanding from its traditional Central European focus. Speedinvest 2 will also provide later-stage, growth capital, in addition to pre-seed investments.
Besides financial resources, the firm engages members of the fund in full-time operational roles such as marketing, business and corporate development. It is supported by 80 entrepreneurs and private investors who actively co-invest and in some cases collaborate with the portfolio.
Its office in Silicon Valley, led by Bovee, supports portfolio companies entering the US market.
Speedinvest, which has invested in companies including Shpock, Wikifolio, Holvi, Hitbox and Crate.io, has built a strategic partnership with Pioneers, the organization behind the Pioneer’s Festival, one of the world’s premier technology events.
The firm is also led by general partners Michael Breidenbrücker, Marie-Helene Ametsreiter, and Stefan Klestil, and chairman of the board Johann “Hansi” Hansmann.
