Grofers Raises $10M Series A Funding

Grofers, a Gurgaon, India-based express delivery marketplace, raised $10m Series A funding.

The round from existing investor Sequoia Capital and new investor Tiger Global.

The company intends to use the funds to further strengthen the technology platform while expanding its presence to more cities, firstly in Bangalore.

Launched in December 2013 by Saurabh Kumar and Albinder Dhindsa, Grofers  provides users of its mobile app with access to inventory of local stores and delivers to the users within 90 minutes of them placing an order.
The company has so far partnered with over 250 merchants across Delhi and Mumbai and processes over 30,000 deliveries every month, with over 6,000 orders coming over the mobile application.
It employs over 200 delivery staff who ensure that customers get their products within 90 minutes of ordering online.
