The IPO Task Force, on behalf of their supporting associations – EuropeanIssuers, the European Private Equity & Venture Capital Association and the Federation of European Securities Exchanges, released a report focused on the European IPO landscape.
The document, entitled EU IPO Report – Rebuilding IPOs in Europe – Creating jobs and growth in European capital markets – studies the state of European IPO markets which does not look healthy, highlights the fact that an open and well working IPO market helps set a benchmark for private company valuations and provides a meaningful exit route beyond trade sales.
Beyond the findings, the report also makes recommendations to EU policy makers and industry participants: a) from creating an equity culture in Europe 2) to reform the EU Prospectus Directive 3) to reduce the red tape 4) to change the tax system 5) to let smaller, high-growth companies effectively access to public markets, there is a long path to turn the drop in IPOs in the old continent.
