August, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of tech solutions for home control and security, raised $38m in Series B funding.
The round, which brought total funding to $50m, was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Comcast Ventures, Qualcomm Incorporated (through Qualcomm Ventures), Maveron, Cowboy Ventures, Industry Ventures, Rho Ventures, and SoftTech VC, CAA Ventures, Dolby Family Ventures, Global Brain, KDDI, SanDisk Ventures and Singtel Innov8. In conjunction with the funding, Bessemer Venture Partners’ Rob Stavis will join August’s Board of Directors.
The company intends to use the funds to launch new products for home access, expand further into retail markets, and grow the San Francisco based team.
Co-founded by technology entrepreneur Jason Johnson and designer Yves Béhar, August offers the August Smart Lock, an intelligent hardware and software access system that allows users to send virtual keys to anyone they would like to have access to their homes.
The company also operates a cloud platform for trusted developer partners to build new connected experiences that leverage the August Smart Lock.
