Mobeewave, a Montreal, Canada-based provider of secure NFC mobile payment terminal solutions, raised $6.5m in Series A funding.
The round was led by SBT Venture Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to expand into new market worldwide, while rolling out its products roadmaps.
Founded in 2011 by Benjamin du Haÿs and Maxime de Nanclas, Mobeewave provides banks and merchants with dongle-free NFC mobile payment terminal solutions enabling payment acceptance on smart devices. Its technology turns any NFCenabled phone (or other smart device) into a contactless payment terminal (mobile POS) to receive payments from ApplePay, contactless cards or any NFC wallets without the use of any additional hardware.
