Bolt to Advise Y Combinator’s Hardware Startups

Y Combinator, the Mountain View-based startup seed fund, is partnering with Bolt, a venture fund that invests in early-stage hardware and software startups.

In particular, Bolt, which has just closed a new 25m second fund (read here) and announced the expansion to a new facility in San Francisco, will advise YC hardware companies on product design, engineering, volume manufacturing and go-to-market strategy. They will work with its senior engineering staff and investing partners, who have collectively designed, funded, and shipped tens of millions of units.

Founded by Ben Einstein, Axel Bichara, and Scott Miller, Bolt is based in a prototyping facility at Autodesk’s Pier 9 Workshop on the Embarcadero in downtown San Francisco.
