Menlo Park, CA-based venture capital firm August Capital closed its seventh fund at $450m.
August VII, which was raised in under two months, will continue the traditional strategy of August to invest in entrepreneurs building game changing businesses. It will be led by Vivek Mehra, Howard Hartenbaum, Eric Carlborg, Tripp Jones, Andy Rappaport, and David Hornik.
Founded in 1995 by Dave Marquardt and John Johnston, the firm has invested in more than 75 companies across technology. It manages $1.3 billion.
Successes included Microsoft, Intuit, Symantec, Visio, Sun, Compaq, Seagate, Grand Junction, MMC Networks, Atheros, OnLane, Postini, LiveOps, Skype, Evite, Shopping.com, Rhapsody.
