lynda.com Receives $186M Investment

lyndalynda.com, a Carpinteria, California-based online learning company, received a $186m investment.

The round was led by TPG, a global private investment firm with $65 billion of assets under management, with participation from Accel Partners, Spectrum Equity and Meritech. In conjunction with the funding, David Trujillo of TPG will join lynda.com’s board.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate acquisitions, growth and new content initiatives, and to continue to build the team.

Founded in 1995 and led by Eric Robison, CEO, lynda.com is an online learning company committed to providing members with up-to-date content covering business, creative and technical skills delivered by experts in their fields.
Its library includes more than 5,700 courses and 255,000 video tutorials (inclusive of English, French, German and Spanish content). while its customer base includes Fortune 50, colleges and universities (including all of the Ivy League), state governments and branches of the U.S. military — both in the U.S. and internationally.
The company has offices in San Francisco, Calabasas, London, Sydney and Graz.
