BlockCypher Secures over $3.1M in Seed Funding

blogchyperBlockCypher, a San Mateo, California-based block chain web services startup, secured over $3.1m in seed funding.

Backers included Foundation Capital, New Enterprise Associates, AME Cloud Ventures, Tim Draper, Upside Partnership, Streamlined Ventures, Fenox Venture Capital, Jesse Draper, CEO, Valley Girl Ventures, and Shawn Byers. Additional investors include Ben Narasin and TriplePoint Capital, Ken Goldman (CFO Yahoo), Sanjiva Weerawarana (CEO WSO2), VoyLét Capital, Granite Ventures, Boost VC, 500 Startups, Crypto Currency Partners, Michael Liou, and hip hop artist Nas.

The company intends to use the funds to expand geographic coverage, build its block chain services, and provide deeper analytics.

Co-founded in 2014 by Catheryne Nicholson, CEO, and Matthieu Riou, BlockCypher provides block chain web services that enable developers to build, monitor and secure all block chain applications. It is also releasing an open-source block explorer to showcase four different cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and BlockCypher Testnet.
