BigTeams Closes $5M Series B Funding

bigteamsBigTeams, a McLean, VA-based provider of a comprehensive website and software system for high school athletics programs, closed on a $5m Series B funding round.

The round was led by SWaN & Legend Venture Partners and Capital Sports Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate business growth in 2015.

In addition to the funding, the company purchased one of the largest high school scheduling software providers, Schedule Star, from Gannett. The acquisition aims to enable BigTeams to offer a comprehensive scheduling, school-branded website and fundraising product to high school athletics directors.

Led by CEO Clay Walker, BigTeams develops high school athletic websites and software for schools to manage administrative work, fundraising and generate community engagement. The product features administrative tools, including scheduling, online athlete registration and booster volunteer management systems. The platform also allows high school athletics programs to generate revenue through features such as local online ad sales, photo sales, e-commerce sales, mobile app sales and more.
BigTeams now works with schools in 43 states and Canada.
