D-Orbit Raises €2.2M in VC Funding

dorbitD-Orbit, a Milan, Italy-based developer of devices that enable the disposal of artificial satellites at the end of their life, removing them from their orbits, raised a new round of funding of €2.2m.

The round was led by TTVenture Quadrivio (Quadrivio Capital SGR) with participation from Como Venture.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to advance its space decommissioning systems.

Founded in 2011 by Luca Rossettini, CEO, D-Orbit develops space decommissioning systems based on solid rocket motors for satellites and missile upper stages to preserve the orbital space extending sustainability concept to Space. Those systems allow to fulfill current international regulations that force satellite operators to remove satellites at the end of life in a controlled way, having on-board specific propulsive systems for the decommissioning manoeuvers.
The company is currently present in Europe and USA.
