BeON Home Raises $1.5M in Seed Funding

BeON Home, a Cambridge, MA-based startup that develops smart home security products, raised $1.5m in seed funding.

Backers included Dangold Investment Corporation.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate their timeline for developing new products by expanding the team with new designers and engineers following the launch of its first product, the BeON Burglar Deterrent, on Kickstarter.

Led by Ray Bourque, Vince and Bianca Wilfork, BeON offers The BeON Burglar Deterrent, an LED-bulb system that installs like normal light bulbs and works with existing wall switches. After installing, the system learns and replays the family’s lighting patterns and plays them back while they are away in order to create the impression of a lived-in home. It even responds to a doorbell ringing, creating the impression of someone stirring throughout the house.
The system uses built-in rechargeable batteries to continue being a deterrent during power outages and also provides safety features including general illumination during power outages, fade out, instant nightlight and exit lighting in the event of smoke or carbon monoxide alarms.
