Course Hero Closes $15M Series A Financing

coursehero_logoCourse Hero, a Redwood City, Calif.-based online learning platform for crowdsourced study resources, closed $15m Series A financing.

The round was led by GSV Capital Corp. (NASDAQ: GSVC) and IDG Capital, with participation from SV Angel and Maveron, Innovation Endeavors, Valiant Capital, 137 Ventures, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Interplay Ventures, Umang Gupta, Bill Krause, and Jeff Fluhr.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth of the team and expand the reach of its solutions.

Founded in 2006 by Cornell University student Andrew Grauer, Course Hero connects college and high school students with online content and expert tutors to create an environment where everyone can learn in a way that best fits their needs. The company provides educational resources in the form of homework help from expert tutors, customizable flashcards, and more than 7 million course-specific notes, study guides, and practice tests.
It has more than 5m users at universities and high schools worldwide.
