uBeam Raises $10M in Series A Funding

ubeamuBeam, a Santa Monica, CA-based wireless power startup, raised $10m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Mark Suster’s Upfront Ventures with participation from existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Mark Cuban and Ludlow Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Suster and Katie McMahon of SoundHound joined uBeam’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds for product development and expansion of its engineering team (read here).

Founded in 2011 by Meredith Perry, CEO, uBeam transmits power over the air to charge electronic devices wirelessly.
The company also has an R&D/production facility in Ashburn, VA.
