Tokopedia Secures $100M

tokopediaTokopedia, an Indonesian online marketplace, raised $100M in funding.

The round was led by SoftBank Internet and Media, with participation from Sequoia Capital and existing shareholder SB Pan Asia Fund. With this funding, SIMI and Sequoia Capital representatives will join the company’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to focus on customer acquisition, hiring, and other growth initiatives.

Founded in 2009 and led by William Tanuwijaya, CEO, PT Tokopedia is an online marketplace that enables individuals and business owners in Indonesia to open and maintain their online stores for free, while providing a safe online shopping experience.
