Frankly Raises $12.8M in Funding

logo_franklyFrankly, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a mobile ephemeral messaging app, raised $12.8m in funding.

Backers included JJR Private Capital, Stanford-StartX Fund and SK Planet.

The company, which has raised nearly $22m in venture funding to date, intends to use the funds to continue to expand its platform.

Led by Steve Chung, CEO, Frankly provides Frankly Chat, a mobile messaging app which deletes messages and photos immediately after friends read them. Its just released Frankly 3.0 enables users to send disappearing messages to friends without Frankly accounts through the use of personal links or text messages. Once a message is sent, friends of Frankly users are able to directly access a message through a webpage link on any desktop or mobile device.

Launched in the fall of 2013, the company is now working on SDK business that will focus on bringing a customizable version of its technology to other app developers. It is now accepting selected early partners into its program.
