SynergEyes, Inc., a Carlsbad, Calif.-based technology contact lens company, raised $12m in funding.
The name of the backers were not disclosed.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate expansion of its contact lenses for patients with astigmatism, presbyopia and irregular corneas as well to make strategic acquisitions in the field of specialty contact lenses.
Led by SynergEyes President and CEO Jim Kirchner, O.D. SynergEyes manufactures and markets the Duette family of contact lenses for astigmatic patients, including presbyopes, seeking exceptional vision. The Duette family includes Duette® HD and Duette® Progressive, which are fit empirically. It also offers the UltraHealth® lens for irregular corneas, which promotes eye health while providing superior vision and all-day comfort.
The SynergEyes portfolio also includes ClearKone®, SynergEyes® A, MF, KC, and PS.
