VentureBeat, a San Francisco, CA-based tech news web site, raised $2.6m in funding.
The round was led by Crosslink with participation from WaldenVC, Formation8, KDDI and Icon Venture Partners.
The company intends to use the funds to for its new research division VB Insight, which enables marketing and IT leaders to make informed and intelligent decisions with insight provided by independent business analysts and experts. It formally launches in the coming weeks with an initial focus on such SaaS segments as Marketing Automation, Mobile Developers, and Digital Advertising.
