Spire Raises $25M in Series A Funding

IMG_4074Spire, a San Francisco, CA-based satellite-powered data company which is changing its name from Nanosatisfi, with rebranding rolling out through the end of the year, raised $25m in Series A funding.

The round was led by RRE Ventures, with participation from existing and new investors Moose Capital, Quihoo and Mitsui & Co. Global Investment.

The company, which has raised a total of $29m to date, intends to use the funds to extend its satellite network and data infrastructure, and expand its team.

Led by Peter Platzer, CEO, and Russ Muzzolini, CTO, Spire leverages satellite data to provide organizations with instruments to access insights into areas such as global trade, weather, shipping and supply chain, illegal fishing, and maritime domain awareness.
To date, the company has deployed four of its small form factor satellites into space.
Initially incubated by hardware accelerator Lemnos Labs, Spire has a growing customer base across North America, Europe and Asia and opened a second office in Singapore.
