Urban Remedy Inc., a San Rafael, Calif.-based nutrition delivery service that offers organic, raw and gluten-free juice cleanse plans, meal drinks and snacks, raised $5m in Series A venture funding.
VC firm Venture51 made the investment.
The company intends to use the capital to open a manufacturing facility in Point Richmond, Calif., hire e-commerce and food people, to increase marketing initiatives, and expand nationwide storefronts.
Founded by practitioner of Chinese medicine, herbalist and licensed acupuncturist Neka Pasquale, and led by CEO Paul Coletta, Urban Remedy makes and sells certified-organic, vegan, raw and ready-to-eat meals, snacks and premium juices. It ships food and beverages direct to consumers who order online or via mobile, and sells them through a limited number of Urban Remedy branded storefronts.
