Puppet Labs Raises $40M in Funding

PuppetLabsPuppet Labs, a Portland, Oregon-based provider of IT automation software, raised $40m in funding.

Backers included Cisco, Google Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Triangle Venture Capital Group, True Ventures and VMware.

The company, which has now raised $86m since June 2009, intends to use the funds to invest in people, technology advancements and global expansion.

Led by Luke Kanies, founder and CEO, Puppet Labs provides a software platform that gives system administrators the operational agility, efficiency and insight they need to proactively manage dynamic infrastructure, scaling from tens of servers to thousands, both on-premises and in the cloud.
18,000+ companies use Puppet Labs to configure and manage their IT infrastructure, including Bank of America, Cisco, Citrix, eBay, NYSE, PayPal, salesforce.com, and WebEx. The company, which has added Mukesh Sharma as vice president of sales, EMEA, currently employs more than 300 people.
