Lovespace Raises £1.6M in Equity Crowdfunding

lovespaceLovespace, a London, UK-based storage-by-the-box company, raised £1.6m in equity crowdfunding.

259 backers acquired a 28.5% equity stake in the company via Crowdcube. The largest single investment of £250K came from venture capital firms and major Shazam investor, DN Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to increase its marketing efforts and expand operations.

Led by Brett Akker, co-founder of Streetcar, which was sold to US car club competitor ZipCar for £32m in 2010, Lovespace collects users’ things (boxes or larger items) from their homes, store them in a warehouse and return them whenever and wherever they want in the UK.
Users can manage their account online, add photographs and details of what’s in each box and to call them back individually at any point.
To date, the company has served 1,000 customers storing approximately 6,500 boxes or larger items like bags, bikes and skis.
