Pinterest Raises $200M in Funding

pinterestPinterest, a San Francisco, CA-based visual social platform, raised $200m in funding.

Backers in the round, which brought the company’s valuation to about $5bn, included existing investors SV Angel, FirstMark Capital, Fidelity, Bessemer Venture Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, and Valiant Capital Partners.

Pinterest, which has raised $764m in total, intends to use the funds to continue to grow globally.

Co-founded in March 2010 by Ben Silbermann, Evan Sharp and Paul Sciarra, Pinterest is a platform for discovering things for projects and interests, hand-picked by people. Users can pin (visual bookmarks) things organize and collect them by theme or topic in boards.
