Passworks Raises $1M in Funding

Passworks, a Lisbon, Portugal-based provider of a product for brands and retailers to create, manage and distribute marketing campaigns through Apple’s Passbook, Google Wallet and Windows Phone Wallet, raised $1m in funding.

Backers included Faber Ventures and Portugal Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to grow its development team and add new functionalities in the coming months.

Led by Francisco Belo, founder and CEO, Passworks provides brands and retailers with a Software as a Service platform and an Application Program Interface (API) to create a pass in the design studio and distribute a mobile marketing campaign in the form of digital coupons, membership or loyalty cards and events or travel tickets.
Users can add to a pass push-notifications and location-based triggers to set up specific messages to particular venues. They can also define their target customer and distribute the passes to the right target audience and to discover customers.
The company has launched a public beta of its platform and plans to fully launch in June 2014.
