Arcadia Biosciences, Inc., a Davis, Calif.-based agricultural biotechnology company, closed on a $33m round of Series D equity financing.
The round was led with an investment of $30m from Mandala Capital Limited, a dedicated agribusiness private equity fund focused on seed technology, among other sectors, in India, with participation from existing investors CMEA Capital, BASF Venture Capital, and Saints Capital.
The company, which has now raised $101m, plans to use proceeds to accelerate the development and commercial launch of products based on its agronomic performance and product quality trait technologies.
Led by Eric Rey, president and CEO, Arcadia focuses on the development of agricultural products (including Nitrogen Use Efficiency, Water Use Efficiency, Salt Tolerance, Heat Tolerance, and Herbicide Tolerance) which are all aimed at creating healthier ingredients and whole foods.
The company has granted more than 70 technology licenses worldwide to major seed and consumer product companies.
