Transfercar, an Auckland, New Zealand-based free rental car company, raised NZ$450k in equity and debt funding.
Entrepreneur Dennis Round, who will join the firm as global Sales Director, provides the funds.
The company intends to use the funds to launch in the US and continue development of the web application.
Founded in 2008 and led by Brian Karlson, CEO, Transfercar runs rental car relocation websites for customers in USA, Australia and New Zealand.
It allows rental operators to relocate cars between their branches in order to position their fleet for new hires by facilitating contact between them and travellers. Operators submit their relocations to Transfercar using the web or integrations with fleet management systems and then prospective drivers request the relocations through the website, mobile phones or email.
The company had previously raised NZ$150k from Norwegian angel investor, Nils August Andresen.
