BioDatomics Raises Funding

BioDatomics_LogoBioDatomics, a Bethesda, MD-based supplier of bioinformatics analysis software and services that improve genomic research productivity, received a grant and raised an equity funding round.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) provided the grant while the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development’s (MDBED) Maryland Venture Fund (MVF) made the investment.
The amount of the transactions was not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds to further expand the capabilities of its sequencing (NGS) data analysis platform, BioDT.

Co-founded by Maxim Mikheev, MD, PhD and local executives Anthony Millin and Alan Taffel, BioDatomics has developed bioinformatics analysis software and services (built on Hadoop® Big Data analysis engine) that allow researchers and bioinformaticians to glean insights from their data and reduce analysis turnaround times and real-time collaboration between colleagues.
BioDT enhances productivity by integrating many genomic analysis tools into a single platform that provides drag-and-drop editing, real-time collaboration, visualized results, and intuitive table manipulation. The platform is available as a software license and will shortly be released as a cloud-based service as well.
