Split Raises $1M in Seed Funding

Split, an Israeli provider of an Antisocial app, raised $1m in seed funding.

Backers included Christopher Burch, Jorg Mohaupt, Dodo Bar Or, Hadar Goldman, Alex Zubillaga and Oliver Slipper.

The Split apps work by gathering a person’s existing contact and social information (as they permit) as well as public social network data from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Foursquare.

Led by Udi Dagan, CEO and Founder, Split helps people avoid awkward encounters via iOS and Android apps that gather a person’s existing contact and social information (as they permit) as well as public social network data from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Foursquare. From there, the user selects people to avoid, scans the area for “avoidees,” and if avoidees are in the area, it immediately provides the user an escape route to avoid the encounter.
The company is now launching the apps in the US market following a beta test in Israel in November 2013.
