The round was led by Data Collective Venture Capital, with participation from new investor Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors and existing investor Khosla Ventures.

The company plans to use the funds to further expand its engineering team and product offering.

Founded in 2011 by Jorge Heraud, CEO, Blue River Technology has developed and commercialized robotic systems to measure the needs of each plant and apply inputs precisely in the required dosage. Its first commercial application is used to identify and precisely eliminate unwanted plants in lettuce production.
The company is also working to extend its plant recognition systems and big data techniques for application with row crops like corn and soybeans.
