Aseptia, a Raleigh, NC-based food processing technology company, closed a $28m Series C financing.
Backers included Lookout Capital, SJF Ventures, Prudential, and the F.B. Heron Foundation.
The company intends to use the funds to grow the operations of Wright Foods‘ in Troy, NC, opened in August 2012.
Led by J. Michael Drozd, President/CEO, Wright Foods is the wholly owned manufacturing subsidiary of Aseptia, Inc., which utilizes technology developed at North Carolina State University to provide a wide range of products including fruit sauces, tomato products, vegetables, soups and beverages.
Aseptia’s patented technology enables the production of products that maintain the flavors and nutrients of fresh food without the use of preservatives or refrigeration.
Several major food companies are customers.
