Data Physics Receives Investment from Battery Ventures

dataphysicsData Physics Corp., a San Jose, Calif.-based supplier of high performance test and measurement solutions for noise and vibration applications, received an investment from Battery Ventures.

Battery purchased a controlling stake in Data Physics Corp. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. In conjunction with it, Louis Pace, an industrial tech executive and former Battery executive in residence, has been named new chief executive and a member of its board of directors. Jesse Feldman, a Battery general partner, is joining the board, as well.

The company intends to use the funds to grow organically and through acquisitions.

Established in 1984 by Sri Welaratna and Dave Snyder, Data Physics designs, manufactures and provides digital signal processing technology to help companies perform acoustic tests, structural tests, rotating machinery diagnostics, and vibration characteristics analysis.
Its products include dynamic signal analyzers, vibration control systems, electrodynamic shakers, and high intensity and underwater acoustics products.
The company currently sells into sectors including aerospace, automotive, electronics and military/defense.

Following the close of the transaction, Welaratna, will remain involved with Data Physics.
