Teespring Raises $20M in Funding

teespringTeespring, a Providence, Rhode Island-based crowdfunding platform for custom apparel, raised $20m in funding.

According to TechCrunch (read here), the round was led by Andreessen Horowitz. In conjunction with the funding, Andreessen Horowitz’s Lars Dalgaard joined Teespring’s board.

Founded in November of 2011 by Walker Williams and Evan Stites-Clayton,  Teespring operates a crowdfunding platform for custom apparel.
It allows people to create a design, choose a sales goal, and launch a campaign. Once a campaigner reaches the goal, the company manages the production and distribution phases and sends the organizer a check for the profit.
People can also use the site to gather around a cause, earn extra cash, fundraise, or distribute merchandise.

Launched in 2012, Teespring has shipped over 1 million custom products to people in over 80 countries.
