Shuttersong Closes $500K Funding

shuttersongShuttersong, a Wellesley, MA-based developer of an app that embeds music and sound into a playable JPEG image, closed a $500k additional funding.

The investment, which brought the total seed funding to $2.2m, came from Gil Anderson, a business and technology executive and former partner at Accenture, who will join Shuttersong’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds for the commercial expansion of the platform for use by brands and digital marketing agencies seeking to implement its technology for social marketing campaigns, fan engagement and user-generated content, as weel as for the development of new e-commerce capabilities.

Led by William Agush, founder and CEO, and launched in September 2013, Shuttersong combine image with sound to provide an app to record the sights and sounds of the world.
Since launch, it has been downloaded by more than 30,000 people.

The company’s advisory board includes executives from AOL, Brilig/Merkle, Constant Contact, DART DoubleClick, HighStart Group, Ideeli, YP.com, Microtouch, Snickleways and AEG.
