Contently Raises $9M in Series B Funding

ContentlyLogoContently, a New York City-based marketplace that connects journalists with publishers, raised $9m in Series B funding.

Backers included Sigma Prime, Sigma West, Lightbank, Contour Ventures and David Lerner.

The company intends to use the funds to grow its freelance network as well as expand its content marketing software features.

Co-founded in 2010 by Joe Coleman, CEO, Shane Snow and Dave Goldberg, Contently is a marketplace that connects journalists with publishers. It features editorial management and content marketing software for publishers and personal branding and job-finding tools for journalists.
Clients include over 40 Fortune 500 companies and its freelance network is approaching 30,000.
The company, which has 27 employees and over 40 enterprise clients, had raised $2 million in funding in 2012. According to a note, revenue is up 400% over last year.
