Startup Compass Raises $700K in Funding

Startup Compass Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a new big data benchmarking tool, raised $700k in funding.

Backers included Amir Banifatemi, Anil Sethi, Ben Congleton, Christopher Grey, Clemente Germanetti, Daniel Recanati, Erik Jansen, etc.

The company intends to use the funds to hire data scientists for its research project Startup Genome and engineers for Compass.co.

Founded by CEO Bjoern Herrmann, Startup Compass has launched Compass, a benchmarking tool that offers automated data collection from tools and services including Salesforce.com, MailChimp, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, PayPal, Quickbooks and Stripe to view company benchmarks across a range of categories, configure an alert to stay up to date on revenue, churn rate, user growth rate, acquisition costs etc., while offering visualizations of that data in correlation charts, graphs and via tailored, supplemental analysis.
It also operates the “Startup Genome”, a free and open platform for collecting, curating and analyzing data about the startups, entrepreneurs, investors and community enablers in local startup communities.
