Shopify, an Ottawa, Canada-based ecommerce and retail platform used by over 80,000 businesses, closed a $100m Series C funding round.
The round was led by OMERS Ventures and Insight Venture Partners, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, FirstMark Capital, Georgian Partners, and Felicis Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to expand their recently launched offline retail offering.
Founded in 2006 by CEO Tobias Lütke, ShopifyBy provides a commerce platform that allows users to sell online and at their retail location. It offers a professional online storefront, a payment solution to accept credit cards, and a point of sale system for retail sales.
The company currently serves over 80,000 retailers in 100 different countries, including Tesla Motors, Gatorade, Budweiser, Wikimedia Foundation, Amnesty International, CrossFit.
