Nanotronics Imaging, a Brooklyn, NY-based developer of optical inspection tools for the semiconductor industry, completed a $7m Series B financing round.
Backers included Founders Fund. In conjunction with the funding, Founders Fund Partner Peter Thiel, will be joining Nanotronics Board’s of Directors.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to provide and scale products and services to the semiconductor industry, as well as to expand offerings into new domains such as biomedical diagnostics.
Founded in 2010 by CEO Matthew Putman, Nanotronics Imaging combines optical microscopy with patented image processing and machine intelligence algorithms to produce inspection tools used in a wide variety of manufacturing environments.
The technology allows for the imaging of a very large area of a specimen with nanoscale resolution.
