Flipboard Raises $50M in Series C Funding

flipboardAccording to Forbes, Flipboard, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based social news app, is to close an additional $50m in Series C funding.

In September, the company had closed a $50m round led by Rizvi Traverse Management (read here).

Flipboard will use the funds to hire new engineering and sales people (have a look at their career page).

Founded in 2009 by Mike McCue and Evan Doll, the company provides a social magazine which allows users to read, collect and share their favorite stories into their own magazines on any topic and platform. It is available for iPad, iPhone, Android, Kindle Fire & NOOK.
Flipboard has more than 80 employees and also has offices in New York, NY and Beijing, China.
