Bloc Raises $2M in Seed Financing

blocBloc Inc., a San Francisco, CA, apprentice-based learning platform, raised $2m in seed financing.

The round was led by Harrison Metal with participation from Baseline Ventures, First Round Capital and Learn Capital.

Founded in April of 2012 by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign grads Roshan Choxi (CEO) and Dave Paola (CTO), Bloc offers online programs to learn to code (Web Development, iOS and Web Design) through an online apprenticeship model.
Accepted students select their mentor based on experience, language, location, or availability, schedule three weekly meetings and introduce themselves to the mentor, and then follow a web development path consisting of 12 weeklong sections, each containing around a dozen checkpoints to be completed to advance through the curriculum.
Students meet three times a week with their mentor over video chat to discuss concepts and solve problems.

The company is hiring.
