AlienVault Receives $3.5M from Intel Capital in Series D

alien vaultAlienVault, a San Mateo, CA-based provider of Unified Security Management™ solutions and crowd-sourced threat intelligence, received a $3.5m investment from Intel Capital in Series D funding.

The round closed at $30m having the company announced a $26.5m Series D in September (read here).

The company will use the funds to continue to scale its global sales and marketing programs and increase investments in product innovation and expand its OTX platform.

Led by Barmak Meftah, president and CEO, AlienVault provides a USM platform that allows organizations with limited security staff and budget to address compliance and threat management needs. It also operates the Open Threat Exchange™, a collaborative initiative for security professionals to connect with their peers, and learn about the latest threats and defensive tactics from industry experts and security researchers.  It represents a large crowd-sourced repository for threat information around the world, counting more than 8,000 contributors from 140 countries.
