Appear Here, a London, UK-based online marketplace for short-term retail space, raised £1m in venture capital funding.
Backers include Howzat Partners, MMC Ventures, Forward Investment Partners, Playfair Capital, Miroma Ventures, Ballpark Capital, Meyer Bergman and Marc Hazan.
The company intends to use the funds for operations and geographic expansion – and strengthening of its technology team.
Founded by CEO Ross Bailey, Appear Here operates an online booking platform that connects landlord’s vacant spaces to brands retailers and entrepreneurs.
Launched in January 2013, Appear Here has signed up over 3,000 brands and retailers, giving them access to a database of 250 spaces nationwide.
Customers include Google, Microsoft, American Apparel and Diageo as well as smaller independents and entrepreneurs such as Stylist Magazine, PeakABoo Vintage and Candy Kittens.
